I was the person who notified this dog as missing to DogLost. there was some confusion at the start of the search as to the name of the dog, and how to get hold of Tony. he has been concentrating his search via greyhound circles, and sadly there does not seem to have been enough postering around the wider area as poor Denis could have got a long way quite quickly. There are not enough DogLost helpers in Yorkshire to cover the entire area. Postering really is important as firstly it means everyone knows the dog is being sought, and secondly it gives anyone seeing the dog a contact number to ring
This dog has still not been found, poor thing, and in the York Post article linked above, Tony is quoted as saying that if someone has taken him in they may keep him - his owner and trainer just want to know he is safe.
I doubt if he were found alive that he'd be raced again after the ordeal he's been through
- maybe if anyone knows Tony they can get him to check these numbers, since all too often lost dogs are picked up by travellers who seem to keep a look out for them, then sold on out of the area they were found in - often several times. So Denis could be anywhere by now... and some finders don't check for tattoos sadly
A b/w greyhound was also found in Leeds recently, but I imagine Tony is in touch with the Yorkshire dog wardens
Sadly still no sightings or news of Denis. There has been an article in the Wetherby News on the unprecedented number of dogs which have just vanished into thin air locally, over tyhe last three months or so.
